Shanna is a young singer who sounds like shes been singing for decades. She has the abilities to capture the old and pure sound of a traditional jazz standard. She can have the soft, soul touching sound of an Eva Cassidy ballad; the jazzy qualities of Annie Ross or belt a soulful tune like Dusty Springfield. Shanna has always been a singer, since the age of two she was harmonizing in the car along to the radio. Growing up in musical family helped to form a musical foundation from a young age. After being very involved in the Arts throughout High school Shanna continued to practice singing and guitar playing in Thailand as well as Africa. During a nine month stay in Tanzania, east Africa, Shanna volunteered to Co-teach a Traditional African choir. Not only did She teach choir every day, she also instructed in a different language and learned a repertoire of over twenty songs in the Tanzanians native language, Kiswahili. After returning from Tanzania Shanna made a decision to study music as her post secondary program. Shanna is currently in her second year of Jazz studies at the Victoria Conservatory or Music with Voice as a major. She is also learning guitar, keyboard and percussion. She sings in many styles: Jazz, Blues, Folk, Reggae, Traditional African, Bossa Nova, Gospel and many more. She hopes to get herself well known the music scene of Victoria, Canada and the world. All of her music is made with the utmost love and humility.
