Born and raised in Surrey, British Columbia, Pat Chessell has been singing for as long as he can remember talking. His musical influences of the traditional country sounds of Johnny Cash, George Jones, Hank Williams Sr., and contemporary country-rock sounds have helped him develop an honest and completely unique approach to country music. Listeners have come to understand Pat as a “hat-trick”: his expert guitar playing, passionate vocals and song writing are a combination sure to make this young artist a well known face on the Canadian country scene.
Chessell gained recognition on the local music scene for his work with a popular Celtic rock group which produced a well-loved CD and toured across B.C. performing in local festivals and at pubs, clubs, and special events. Now at the age of twenty, Pat has decided to use his experience of winning over audiences with his music and energized stage presence in pursuing a solo career in country music. Wherever the show might be, Pat is there to make sure the audience is enjoying themselves.
He is a fan of almost every genre of music and this shows in his musicianship. When watching him play guitar, one can easily see that he has allowed the best elements of every genre to influence his playing. On a lyrical level, country music speaks to Pat: this is demonstrated in the songs that he writes and the well-known favourites covered in his concerts.
Pat Chessell is currently studying music and history at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C. A member of SOCAN, the B.C. Country Music Association, and the B.C. Songwriter’s Showcase Association, he will be playing at many events throughout 2005. Pat is currently working on his debut solo C.D.
