DJ LK (a.k.a Laura Kelly) has been active as a DJ in Kingston, Toronto and Montreal for over 15 years. These days she plays all vinyl and has an eclectic collection to fit almost any occasion. DJ LK specializes in spinning sets of rare disco, boogie, soul, post punk, psych, garage, and glam rock. You can expect all of this and more when you see her play, depending on the night!
In Toronto, DJ LK hosted the legendary night All That at the now gone, but not forgotten, Kensington Market venue The Boat. This event happened monthly for over 8 years and focused on 90s hip hop, R&B, and dance music. These days you can catch her spinning semi-regularly at Toronto venues The Embassy and The Little Jerry. In Montreal, at Poubelle Magnifique and Sans Soleil. In Kingston, at Hotel Wolfe Island, Mussiiki Cafe, The Grad Club, and other special events like Slow Dance.
DJ LK has a past in radio, getting her start at Kingston's own CFRC as a teen in 2004. Her show Exploding Plastic Inevitable aired for almost 10 years and she hosted numerous other programs at the station during her ongoing time as a volunteer there. She cites this experience, a growing community of DJs to share tracks and gigs with, and working in numerous record stores as formative to her craft.
