Inspired and informed by nêhiyawêwin (Cree language) teacher Reuben Quinn and Ininew astronomer Wilfred Buck, a dream from the hole in the sky translates Hirtle's own observations of the night sky into works representing pakone kisik (the hole in the sky), also known as known as the Pleiades or the Seven Sisters-- a significant constellation for nêhiyawak (Cree people).
