Crosstown Bus - Too Many Mornings (1971)
Crosstown Bus was formed in Nelson, BC in the late '60s. After a year or so honing their skills on the high school circuit, they moved to Vancouver. Almost instantly upon arriving they began playing live and met manager Bruce Allen. After securing a manager they were encouraged to try their luck in LA. After a few months they returned to Vancouver with a contract from MCA in hand. After a minor personnel change, they were sent to Studio 3 in Vancouver with producer Greg Hambleton (founder and producer of AXE Records) to work on their debut album. It did marginally well and one of the subsequent singles managed to crack the Canadian hot 100. They struggled to gain a large audience, and most of their remaining shows were local. A number of personnel changes followed and by 1974 the band broke up.
A few fantastic musicians played with this band at some point: Blair Thornton of BTO fame, as well as Frank Ludwig who played with Brutus, Body Electric, Trooper, Ironhorse and Union. Enjoy this song from their lone album.
