The Factory Smoke Hornpipe is attributed to James Hill (1811-1853), an English composer of many common-time hornpipes.

Cooley’s Reel is a popular Irish Reel, with some controversy over the authorship of the tune. According to some sources, it is said that Joe & Seamus Cooley heard an old man playing a tune in a session in County Clare that they adored, but on making their way home they could not recall it. So they spent the night trying to reconstruct what they had in their heads. According to Joe Mills (claimed composer) who played in the Aughrim Slopes Band with Joe Cooley, says that young Joe Cooley heard him playing the tune and quickly became obsessed with it, playing it 2-3 times per night and he feels that’s why people attribute the tune to him.

The Wind that Shakes the Barley reel is commonly thought to be of Scottish origin from around the 1800’s.
