CanUS, keeping the New Orleans Traditional Jazz and early Swing flame burning… while keeping your feet tapping and your soul replenished!

Amazingly, this is the 34th year of CanUS performing at Hermann's Jazz Club while at the same time touring the U.S. and Canada Traditional Jazz Festivals for 25 of those years.
Now we look forward to giving our thanks to the traditional jazz lovers with this program and the regular team of Victoria’s top traditional jazz musicians to do another “Best Show Ever,” as one of our audience members called the last one. The musicians may vary over time, but the music remains true to the earliest days of jazz. Newest to the group is Simon Stribling, the former leader of Australia’s Fireworks Jazz Band, who travelled worldwide and has settled here in Victoria. His wife, Lauri, is now our drummer.

The lineup includes Victoria’s finest traditional Jazz musicians:

Simon Stribling - trumpet
Doug Rhodes - vocals &alto sax
Al Pease -Duke of Sooke, alias the Al Capone of the saxophone
Avram McCagherty - banjo
Lauri Lyster - drums
Joey Smith - bass
Toni Blodgett - tickling the ivories
