The show, presented by Flying V Productions, promises a night of unforgettable rock ’n roll with special guests, Kingston's own Emilie Steele & The Deal opening the evening.
“A special thanks to Virginia and Flying V Productions for putting this together, and to The Broom Factory for hosting us,” says Campbell. “And of course, shoutout to Emilie Steele & The Deal—always a pleasure hearing them play.”
Nicholas Campbell might be headlining under that name, but he also has a band of merry talented artists alongside him known as The Two Metre Cheaters.
"As for the Two Metre Cheaters name... My bass player at the time gave me the band name as a COVID reference while we got together in the driveway at my folks place for a jam," explained Campbell. "We were all sitting doing nothing at the time so we tried our best to distance ourselves in person, but at one point or another my bassist yelled out, 'We're the Two Metre Cheaters!' And it stuck."
Some guest appearances in the Cheaters are Melissa Payne and Jimmy Bowskill, who are known to join in once in a while. “I feel so fortunate to have the folks playing with me who do,” Campbell said. "I’ll have Ian McKeown on bass, Brandon Munro on drums and Aaron Hoffman on keys for [the Kingston performance]. It’s gonna be such a ball with the folks."
About his latest single, Campbell said, “We’re awfully proud to have He Said She Said out in the world! We’re currently working on a record that we’re hoping to put out later this year, moving in a bit more of a contemporary style. With this next collection of songs I’ve tried to write in more of a crooner style, and as much as I love playing rock 'n roll guitar I’m hoping to broaden and strengthen my songwriting. So far we’ve got 8 songs ready, still in the rockabilly/rock 'n roll vibe, we were really trying to lean into the year 1960 production wise, still rockin and having a ball but letting the singers take precedent in the band.”
In three words, Kingston can expect a rock ‘n roll party. That’s all there is to it!
