Born in Toronto, soprano Nancy Washeim received her Master of Music degree from McGill University with a specialisation in early music vocal performance. Engagements have included Bach's Magnificat with the McGill Baroque Orchestra, Vivaldi's Magnificat and Beatus Vir with the St. Lawrence Choir, and Carl Orff's Carmina Burana with the McGill Symphony Orchestra. As well, Ms. Washeim also appeared with Le Ch�ur Classique de l'Outaouais in performances of Carmina Burana, St. Sa�ns' Christmas Oratorio, and Bach's Magnificat. Broadcast appearances have included a Christmas concert performance with various members of Tafelmusik, aired by Radio Canada, for La Guignol�e, which included Bach's Cantata 51 Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen.
As a prizewinner of Montreal's Musique Fran�aise, she traveled to the abbey of Royaumont, France, to study and perform Italian music of the Middle Ages. Other international engagements have included J.C. Bach's F�rchte dich nicht in the London Bach Festival with English Voices under the direction of Timothy Brown, Mozart's Coronation Mass under the direction of Stephen Cleobury in Cambridge, as well as a series of concerts throughout Cambridge with lutenist Taro Takeuchi.
In addition to her multi-faceted career as a soloist, Ms. Washeim has also been engaged as an adjudicator, clinician and vocal coach. Recent engagements have included an evening of Baroque music with members of the Regina Symphony Orchestra as well as an evening concert for Brock University's Chamber Music Series. Since moving to Victoria in August 2003, Ms. Washeim's engagements include performances with the St. Cecilia Orchestra, Sooke Philharmonic and Victoria Civic Orchestra.
