Jean-Christophe Béney grew up near Paris, the son of classical musicians. Despite that influence, Béney turned into a jazz lover by age 10, quickly focusing on the saxophone. After much conservatory training, Béney became a working jazzman by 1994, playing with many of the top bands in Paris. For many years he has had his own bands, allowing him to more fully express his creativity as a composer. Currently splitting his time between Paris and Montreal, Béney has released his last three albums on Canada’s Effendi label. Come hear some classic, muscular “quartet jazz” with a hint of Paris!
