ZOOM, the acclaimed trio led by drummer/percussionist Lucas Niggli, with Philipp Schaufelberger and Nils Wogram trombone, has been in existence since 1999 and has released six CDs on INTAKT Records. Critically acclaimed as one of the most important groups on the modern European scene, ZOOM unifies Niggli’s love of jazz and new music. Niggli is currently active with groups like Steamboat Switzerland, Demierre, Guy, Niggli, Big Bag Bohemia, and more. Speeding through the heights and depths of today’s sounds, a nod at tradition here, a jump into the unknown there, and always up to tricks, ZOOM guarantees that seriousness will never turn into solemnity. German trombonist Nils Wogram has emerged as a leader in his own right with over 10 albums (as leader or co-leader) and extensive work with projects such as Root 70, Simon Nabotov Duo, NDR Big Band, and the Turkoz–Wogram Duo. This will be ZOOM’s second visit to the Festival.
