"Some of our other favourite things:..the music of guitarist Ron Samworth, saxophonist Evan Arntzen, bassist Josh Cole, and drummer Skye Brooks.
The four local stalwarts unveiled some choice originals but really shone on a pair of Thelonious Monk covers, one a rockish take on the bebop pioneer’s impossibly tricky “Brilliant Corners” that even got the seagulls dancing. Further proof that they’re not chained to jazz orthodoxy came in their set-closing version of Feist’s “Lonely Lonely”, which included an effective clap-along segment.
