The Pioneer 10 project stumbled onto our laps over lunch at Vera's Burgers on Denman the night after a Limblifter show. Vocalist and songwriter Jeff Booth provided us with a copy of their promo pack and an hour later we were hooked. The band's gritty style belies the soft underbelly of the songs. Excellent musicianship laying down infectious riffs tinged with a very raw vibe help make Pioneer 10's three song demo instantly memorable and listenable. If these songs are any indication, the forthcoming debut record should establish Pioneer 10 as a mainstay in Vancouver's and Canada's rock scene. Here's hoping. - Anthony Benda, thelocalauthority.com
