Following up the debut Devil Rock Disco, Shocore serves up their new album Evilution, a 13 song package that continues the marriage of old school, guitar driven rock topped with edgy vocals and intertwined with innovative samples. Sho Murray and Core White have crafted extremely strong songs for this album and enlisted the help of some friends and guest artists such as Hugh Dillon with vocals on "Fist Fight At Dawn", and Holly McNarland whose contemporarily seductive voice vibes up "Good Talk", a track well suited for the backroom club scene. Shocore sound has matured and the new album has a distinctive rock feel, which should more than satisfy the audience they've developed during the past two years of non-stop touring in Canada. The release of Evilution on Linus / Warner Canada and more touring, along with radio and video exposure will no doubt fuel the band's audience base and attract even more attention to the new album from this explosive act. Their reputation as one of Canada's best live bands will surely increase as they tour in support of the new album. Murray's explosive guitar style, together with White's maniacal, "crank up the party" stage presence help make their live show well worth seeing. To their credit, and with engineering help from Ken Turta (Matthew Good, Holly McNarland, Holly Cole, Strapping Young Lad) who usually mixes the band on the road, Evilution has the sonic quality of a studio album yet retains the ballsy feel of the live show. Expecting that they will pull out the stops to top the dancing girls and trailer park side show atmosphere they brought along on previous tours, Shocore will be a "gotta see" band when they hit the road. Evilution is set for May 2003, with the first single "Right On" showing up at radio in late March. A summer tour is in the works and the Linus and Warner staffs are putting together some strong promotion around the album so there should be a lot of visibility for Shocore and Evilution during 2003.
