Growing up listening to the likes of The Guess Who, The Beach Boys, AC..DC, and BTO, Pedwell had solid roots from which to grow. "Pedwell seamlessly blends hook-laden melodies with crunchy guitar rock, whether with his band, or simply acoustic, Pedwell brings a distinct form of arena rock to the table. Pedwell is proof that even a metal-head can open his heart." - Anthony Benda, DiePopStar.
2001 saw the release of Pedwell's first Full Length effort, entitled 'I Soar'. Recorded in his Vancouver, Canada home, Pedwell sang of events and emotions that were real. "I'd still say that I Soar is the quintessential Pedwell album, simply due to the fact that the guy is literally crying in half the songs" said Lee Terfloth, former manager and long-term friend. The release and promotion of Pedwell's first effort, caught the attention of another performer: singer..songwriter..pianist Matthew Presidente. This meeting found Pedwell with an opening slot for Presidente at the annual Youth Festival, featuring artists such as punk rock legends DOA. Time and time again, shows would come and go, Presidente and Pedwell began to enlist each others' services during performances, which helped fuel and birth Pedwell's second release aptly titled 'Snake Eyes'.
The dynamic pair gigged around the Lower Mainland of Vancouver in support of Snake Eyes, gaining a large fan-base, respect from peers, and eventually selling-out of copies of the LP. The record slithered it's way into the hands of LiveUnsigned's James Burbank, who reviewed the record and in time, flew Pedwell out to California to meet about a possible record contract. "The Record caught my ear as soon as I put it in the player, it was so positive, but at the same time, so..tormented. I hadn't heard a dynamic record like that for a while, and if definitely peaked my interest" said Burbank. Songs like 'Something To Live By', state a perception uncommon to many recent performers, with a chorus singing"What about love? What about life? What about embracing feelings that we feel inside?" There's a realistic positivity there, it really shows who Brad is as a guy, not just a musician."
Although the deal did not work out, Pedwell bounced back with his best(and most accessible) work to date. The summer of 2004 saw Pedwell gain radio exposure through Vancouver's 99.3 The Fox, and climb up the mainstream charts to a top 25 slot in the 2004 Fox Seeds competition with the single 'Restitution'. The single spent months dominating internet radio, and college charts, and sparked many new opportunities for Pedwell: An industry showcase at Cheers night club, and studio work on albums for several singer..songwriters including that of the legendary Sam Masich.
Following the success of Restitution, Pedwell joined long-term friend Matthew Presidente for a weekly show in one of Vancouver's landmark pubs, The Dufferin Hotel. Over one year of weekly shows won the duo many fans, cd sales, and recognition, including press with Vancouver papers, The Georgia Straight, Xtra West, and eventually landed them opening slots for blues legend Long John Baldry, country star Julian Austin, EMI recording artists Stabilo, Todd Kerns (formerly of Age of Electric) and more. Since the conclusion of their weekly show, Presidente and Pedwell have again parted ways as Pedwell is touring the lower mainland, and interior of BC. Pedwell can still be requested on many radio stations across Canada, is frequently found attending industry conferences, supporting local music, and working with managing artists, including his own solo career. What does the future hold? you tell us, as Pedwell is currently preparing to release his latest full-length effort entitled 'Emerged' this December.
