About

Catlow

since circa 2006
Catlow, Vancouver native, File Under Music Records Records indie-pop musicians Natasha Thirsk, Jay Slye, Squid, Barry Higginson, Emily Bach (Dirty Spells), just released this year’s NEW RELEASE
“LOSE CONTROL/STORMSAD” with produced by super talented producer Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara, New Pornographers, Mother Mother) and have created hopelessly catchy, bouncy pop-electro and arrestingly angular grooves, with lithe, intelligent vocals and symphonic layered sparkling guitars, synths and violin. Catlow’s LOSE CONTROL/STORMSAD SINGLE (A/B sides) was just released on Aporia Records Feb 3- 2015.

After winning a Sonicbids contest to play Tuscany’s Arezzo Wave Festival in front of thousands of people in Italy last year, Catlow zipped across the alps and then to the UK for some dates in London. After playing and speaking on a panel
for Music Placements in TV and Film at Austin, Texas’ MEOW Festival, Natasha spent a week of writing, recording and playing in Nashville. This spring Catlow recorded some new tracks with Darryl Neudorf in Ontario, finishing the production with Howard Redekopp in Vancouver this fall.

Catlow was fortunate enough to win Collective Arts Brewing company first round of artists series and had her picture put on a beer bottle label in September as well as features with the Collective Arts Brewing in December with their video for Number One..

Pinkly Things, Catlow’s 2nd release highlights Thirsk’s coy vocals as melodies flex their electro muscles over dense atmospheric guitar rock with a power-pop heart.. Thirsk’s chilly neo-disco fuses hot indie-rocks with blippy synth to create sing-song melodies.

The debut album, Kiss The World was recorded with Ian Browne, of Matthew Good and No Sinner; with Al Sgro and Wil Golden (Michelle Branch) in Los Angeles at Studio 9; and mixing with Brian Carson of Wicked Lester and Bran Van 3000 alumni Dave Hodge of One, Broken Social Scene, at the renowned Village Recorder in LA..
