A Dying Race is a punk band from Napanee Ontario that was active from 2002-2007. Founding members Terry Benn (Vocals, Guitar), Jason McLaughlin (Bass, Vocals) and Landon Martin (drums) first conceived the band as an aggressive, melodic, skate punk band, releasing their debut self-titled album in early 2002 produced by Carl Murray at Logan Street Studio in Kingston ON. The band toured extensively through Ontario and Quebec developing a devout and rabid following at this time, with era highlights that included an invitation to perform at Vans Warped Tour (Quebec City, 2003).
A Dying Race leveraged their early success with a follow-up album titled "Post Victory Times" Produced by Sean Doyle at Pappa D's Studio in Trenton ON, and released an official music video for "We Are The Future" after an unlikely victory at Kingston's K Rock Bandslam in early 2003.
Shortly after the release of "Post Victory Times" Landon was relieved of drum duties and the band entered a distinctly different era, recruiting Aaron Lavaguer (Guitar), Louis Saxe (Drums), and later Jim Blakely (Lead Vocals). The band took time to develop a more modern Post-Punk, and self-described "Blue Collar" style, and entered the studio once again to self-produce their third album titled "Escaping Your Fate", which was engineered and mixed by Dean Hadjichristou and mastered by West West Side Music. The album was released in 2007 through Verona Records, founded by Shane Told of the band Silverstein.
After the release of "Escaping Your Fate" the band embarked on a rigorous nation-wide promotional tour across Canada in 2007, and upon completion of the tour, A Dying Race made a formal announcement to fans, that they had officially disbanded and had no intention of continuing.
Nearly fifteen years later, founding members Terry Benn and Landon Martin reunited to produce a provocative studio single titled "Pull Me Under" in 2021 produced by Terry Benn at Switzerville Sound Retreat in Newburgh ON. The single was released on all major streaming platforms, along with the first two studio albums as an archive of the band's legacy.
