So-So Romeo is Vancouver's newest powerhouse indie band. Introducing themes of wild love, heartbreak, and the common human experience, this group showcases a fresh approach to genre-blending with their ear-worm pop music. With influences from H.E.R. to Mother Mother, So-So Romeo delicately balances the folk stylings of acoustic guitar with synthesizer keyboards, focussing on harmony-heavy melodies, thoughtful lyrics, and infectious rhythms. They are fronted by Tyler Lanigan (Gnarfunkel), Stevie Wise (formerly of The New Groovement, Stevie Wise & The Big Feelings), Thomas Rink (Kickin' Stumps, Seville), and feature a rotating cast of Vancouver’s top session musicians.
With experience and opportunities spanning a decade, the co-creators of SSR have collectively toured across Western Canada, Ontario, and Quebec numerous times, having performed alongside major artists such as Booker T. Jones, Halfmoon Run, Busty & The Bass, Five Alarm Funk, and The Philosopher Kings. They’ve also performed at many notable festivals, including but not limited to: Laketown Shakedown, Victoria International Ska & Reggae Festival, Victoria Jazz Festival, Filberg Festival, Edge of the World Festival, ArtsWells, FernFest, Victoria Pride Festival, and Car Free Day.
Having each fostered a community of supportive and talented musicians, SSR is the product of years of dedication and passion from its founding members. This group sprouted from the Vancouver scene in late 2022 and has since made a lasting impression. Committed to making dance-heavy meaningful music, So-So Romeo is sure to be your guilty pleasure.
