SERGIO L PALUMBO SLP (born 6 Dec 1966) is a Canadian musician and producer as the guitarist and
founder of the Bud Shamble discography. His style involves various alternative guitar tunings and melodic
solos, coupled with clean Marshall guitar tones. The pre and post production of all songs today are
characterized by his studio engineering at INTHEROOM Studio incorporating various DAW Stations and
Hardware Gear. Every piece of equipment serves a purpose in the pre and post mix.
Throughout the nineties SLP enlisted musicians to record songs at Satellite Sound in SSM ON with Bob
McLeod engineering. The group made for the demo took its name ("Bud Shamble") from a phrase taking out
of air one night when SLP was out on the town with long time high-school friends. We just dug the name. SLP
initially intended to sell the songs to a publishing company or solicit the tunes for sync licensing. There was no
immediate plans of forming a cover band. The demo was then submitted to 101.3 FM. Ray Bauer, host of the
homegrown segment added the song “Sweet Sunshine” to the local rotation. It was an instant listener
favorite. Augastino DiMartinis played drums and Joe Lavergne sang vocal back up. Palumbo and D' Orazio
laid the guitars and bass.
The 1st
song ever recorded was “Such a Shame” and SLP worked around Norm Rostec driving Open G
Guitar: Mark Kamzol on Drums and Rob Gilmor on bass. We ended up recording “No More” and “Ain't no
Whippin Fool” in those sessions.
In-the EARLY DAYS; SLP recorded with many notable musicians. Good friend Lino D'Orazio laid foundation
for the majority of bass parts . Bringing in Mike Deluco on drums; the trio recorded Reality ; (Slip Away) Wave
Goodbye ; and All Over But The Crying which became the album name.
“In Your World” and” Losing at Love” has many great recording memories. My brother Peter Palumbo added
his guitar flare to the final mixes.
Rich Travisanut added drums to “Mr. Silver Tongue”. The song found its way onto a Local Steel Compliation
CD produced in SSM.
“SLP explained that he had a very specific idea in mind as to what he wanted Bud Shamble to be from the
very beginning
I had a lot of ideas from my days with jamming to cassettes and recording on 4 tracks.. Shamble
allows me to improvise a lot in live performance and studio and I started building a catalog of
ideas that I eventually still use . Ultimately, I want Shamble to be a marriage of blues, hard rock,
southern country, hillbilly topped with my voice.”
“For Me The Songwriting Mixing and Production is where my heart is -
From there I start building a song in layers.”
“I definitely borrowed from a couple of places,”
