Heather Jean Jordan is a Banff-based singer-songwriter, poet, and multi-disciplinary performer whose work weaves together music, storytelling, theatre, movement, and education. Raised on a farm in Manitoba and originally trained in opera and classical piano, her music draws from across genres, culminating in a strain of folk that feels both familiar and full of surprises- a wild meadowlark serenading the wind. Her debut album, Some Dappled Night (2023), is a contemplative and myth-infused collection rooted in landscape, ancestry, and the natural world. Drawing on her Scottish, Irish, and Icelandic heritage, Heather Jean’s writing moves fluidly between mysticism and lived experience — between faerie glades and winter storms, ancestral fires and present-day resilience. Her songs explore connection: to the earth, to one another, and to the deeper rhythms that carry us through hardship and joy.

Community & Leadership
Heather Jean’s artistry extends beyond performance. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she rang the bells St. George-in-the-Pines Anglican Church daily at 1 p.m., creating a ritual of hope and connection for the Bow Valley community which had echos across the globe.
In 2025, she was appointed Poet Laureate of Banff (2025–2026). Her collaborative project “A Single Seed,” co-written with students at Banff Elementary School, was presented to world leaders at the 2025 G7 Summit in Alberta, and received a letter of recognition from Prime Minister Mark Carney — a testament to her belief in art as civic voice and catalyst for change.
