About

Pegasus

since circa 1972
Pegasus was the first band in the Sault to play Chicago style rock music using 3 horns. Members of the band were all high-school aged, talented instrumentalists with a desire to bring a new sound to the Sault.

After being together for only 6 months, they competed in the first ever Yamaha Battle of the Bands 1973 : won locally , then won the next level of competition via a recording of the band submitted to Yamaha Canada judges for Northern Ontario/Winnipeg region.

After yet another win, they were invited to Ottawa to compete in the National Yamaha Battle of the Bands 1973 show. Going up against professional touring acts with a wealth of performance experience, Pegasus finished fourth.

Coming home after that experience, the band was charged up and spent the next three years performing to crowds in various Sault venues continuing to celebrate the music of Chicago/Johnny Winters/Santana/Doobie Brothers/Lighthouse/ Blood Sweat and Tears and other Canadian bands as well.

Members of Pegasus went on to many music related careers and most continue to perform today in venues large and small where live music is celebrated.
