Olio Festival 2011 will take place over four days - Thursday September 22nd 2011 to Sunday September 25th 2011 - and will produce 30+ events hosting the best local and international independent talent in the mediums of music, art, comedy, skate & film throughout six of Vancouver, British Columbia's most creative neighbourhoods.
This year, Olio Festival 2011 has doubled its out-of-town headliners to perform at Olio2011!
Confirmed to perform as part of Olio2011 are musical acts J Mascis of Dinosaur JR, Glass Candy, Chromatics, Ladyhawk, Cave Singers, Teen Daze, AraabMuzik, Bend Sinister, Bonjay, Braids, The Pack AD, Keys N Krates, Besnard Lakes, Malajube, Chicharones, Revolver, Chateau Marmont, Active Child, Chad Valley, Com Truise + DJs Jokers of the Scene + Tittsworth + over 50 local bands. Olio Festival's expanded art programming includes a Patrick O'Dell art show at Antisocial Skateboard Shop (artist in attendance) + OBEY Clothing Group Art Show featuring prints and works by Shepard Fairey + local and out-of-town Obey Roster Artists, and the locally produced & wildly popular HERE IS NOW & NIGHT VISION art events that showcase Vancouver's ever deepening talent pool! Headlining our film component at Olio2011 is Tommy Wiseau, cult director of the film "The Room", who will be hosting a Director's Master Class & Q+A during two screenings of "The Room". Olio Festival will also be producing two film events with a competitive edge - the 48 Hour Film Contest and the return of the Olio Festival Music Video Contest! Vancouver's ever growing local comedy scene is represented at Olio2011 with performances by RAIN CITY CHRONICLES, BRONX CHEER and THE PARTY (creators of ShitHarperDid.com + "The Party" CTV Web Series). Likewise, Olio Festival 2011 will be throwing a big wink to the city with it's "Classic Comedic Roast" of Vancouver's Mayor Gregor Robertson!
