San Francisco-raised, Halifax-based percussionist Jerry Granelli pioneered world jazz-fusion and electro-acoustic percussion during the '60's while working as a session player with the likes of Ornette Coleman, Mose Allison, Lou Rawls, and Sly Stone. Over the years he has worked with Charlie Haden, Ralph Towner, Bill Frisell, and Keith Garrett.
The V-16 Project features a two-guitar frontline and diverse approach- jazz improvisation, blues-rock-funk fusion, freeform jamming sampled soundscapes, and more. The band's latest CD, "Sonic Temple" (Songlines), is killer and showcases the superb interplay of guitarists/ samplers David Tronzo and Christian Kogel, electric bassist J.A. Granelli (Jerry's son), and Jerry on drums. Jerry Granelli inspires admiration for his effortless swing and inventiveness and his constant search for new expression. Jazztimes Magazine calls him "one of those uncategorizable veteran percussionists who's done it all."
