JONNY MILLER is a old-school songwriter who reaches into his chest and pulls out a handful of raw emotion. Born on Jimi Hendrix, raised on Willie Nelson, and steeped in the soothing vapours of Sam Cooke, Bob Marley, and Dolly Parton, Jonny is a modern incarnation of of the classic folk/pop minstrel. Jonny’s song “Home” was nominated for the Vancouver Island Music Awards “Roots Song of the Year” and has been played on CBC’s All Points West. Jonny brings awareness to the Ancient Forest Alliance (AFA) - a British Columbian organization working to protect the endangered old-growth forests of BC and to ensure sustainable forestry jobs in the province. Jonny was recently signed to Mighty Speck Records and would love to meet you! More info at JonnyMiller.com
JAMES KASPER’s rich, deep, versatile vocals and off-the-rails blues harp are complemented by Larry Burke’s mastery of ambient, ethereal cello. Influences include City and Colour, Keaton Henson, Damien Rice, Glen Hansard, Hayden, Blue Rodeo, and even a little Radiohead. Kasper’s career highlights include opening for the legendary Ray Charles in 1998 (BCTV’s Variety Club Show of Hearts), collaborating and touring with current and former members of Blue Rodeo (Bob Wiseman, Bob Egan), being named “Hardest Working Person in Local Music” by Monday Magazine in 2008, and releasing an award-winning music video for his song “The Gospel.” Exclaim Magazine says: “With the burning wail of his harmonica and his smouldering lyrics, Kasper artfully wrenches empathy from listeners. The noir side adds depth of character and individuality to his music, helping to distinguish him from the thousands of other singer-songwriters in the country roots genre.” Find out more at JamesKasper.com James brings awareness to Victoria's Mustard Seed Food Bank and Missing Children Society of Canada.
