Event Description

Pianist Ashley Wey will kick off the night featuring her Trio, which includes Louis Rudner on bass and Hans Verhoeven on drums.

She will feature music composed by the great Ashley Wey and her versions of older songs, including songs from the Ahmad Jamal songbook to the Beatles songbook, done in the style of Ashley Wey.

The Ashley Wey Trio will be joined by the great Barrie Sorensen and Miguelito Valdes for the second set featuring her original compositions, true to what she conceived these songs to be performed, originally composed for the quintet.

Wey is an expressive player with a sound firmly rooted in the jazz tradition. The charming piano extraordinaire is an unforgettable performer. She turns every performance into an informal master class regaling audiences with her accounts of jazz history and some of the most heartfelt piano playing you will ever hear. Her music is marked by unmistakable purpose and harmonic authority and she employs a powerful technique and deep insight into a wide range of repertoire from the Great American Songbook to her own soulful originals.

Ashley Wey and her love of contemporary jazz, is an incredibly gifted and versatile player who combines a deep love of melody with her own brand of spirited and adventurous lyricism.

Ashley Wey is breathing optimism into the mic with her lyricism and witty delivery, heavily endorsing love and pushing peace through her music. Ashley reigns with a mission to impact people through her transparent stories and vulnerable truths.
