Event Description
Six-time Maple Blues Award winner David Vest and his red hot rockin' Canadians explore the bluesy side of Bob Dylan's music. Dylan has been called a folk singer, a protest singer, a rock and roll singer, etc etc. He's certainly all of that (and more), but he's also been a blues artist from the very beginning, and increasingly so in the latter stages of his storied career.
Dylan, who was born less than two hours drive from Canada, was also a piano player before he ever performed on guitar, and he has returned to his original instrument in recent years. David has never met Bob, but he has met and performed with musicians who played on such albums as Blonde On Blonde and Slow Train Coming.
The band includes Tom Bowler (guitar and vocals), Ryan Tandy (bass), and Damian Graham (drums). As for Vest's piano, Living Blues calls him a virtuoso player, and Oregon Music News describes him as "one of the greatest living boogie-woogie piano players."
