IBO has been on a musicial journey uplifting people since the late eighties, when he fronted the reggae outfit Imperial Force out of Montreal. This powerful group was amoungst the first wave of reggae bands to start touring western Canada. IBO has toured Canada extensively and played for notable artists including Alton Ellis, Ken Boothe, George Nooks, Leroy Sibbles, Half Pint, Pinchers, Mighty Diamonds, Scare Dem Crew and Shabba Ranks. Over the years IBO has also shared the stage with the likes of Alpha Blondie, Culture, Shaggy, Jimmy Cliff and Burning Spear.
Today IBO calls Calgary home and is well known for his long stint as lead vocalist/guitarist for Calgary reggae force Strugglah. A founding member of the Calgary International Reggae Festival, IBO remains committted to spreading the uplifting consciousness of reggae music. His latest album "The Prayer" is more than just 14 tracks of pure reggae. Its a single positive vibe, that lasts over an hour, represents what roots reggae lovers are excited to listen to.
Recently IBO traveled to Nevis and Jamaica to do some recording on both islands. The recordings in Nevis was done at Rockstone studios while the ones in Jamaica was done at Coca Tea's Roaring Lion studios where IBO collarborated with Danny Bassie to lay down the rhythm track while Jamaican saxman Dean Fraser and crew laid the backing vocals on one of his tracks on The Prayer.
The bulk of the album was completed in Calgary's Smokey Room studios, with a mixture of new friends and longtime brethren who now play in IBO's new band KinDread. The result is a groove laden masterpiece, worthy of IBO's long history in both the Canadian and Calgary reggae scenes.
Coming off a well deserved hiatus and newly re-energized from the creation of "The Prayer", IBO will be on the road delivering his contagious high energy and committment to meaningful music across the world's stage.
