Often referred to as “The Marvel,” Cuban-born David Virelles was discovered by Jane Bunnett and brought to Canada as her protégé at age 16. He has since matured into a gifted pianist and composer and has won numerous awards, including being the first-ever recipient of the “Oscar Peterson Prize”. Virelles was nominated for an unbelievable four 2008 National Jazz Awards, including a “Best Recording” nod for his Motion CD.
