Eliane Elias Made In Brazil featuring Marc Johnson bass, Rafael Barata drums, and Rubens De LaCorte guitar
Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Eliane Elias has had an impressive 35-year career at the intersection of jazz, Brazilian, classical, and pop music. A pianist, singer, and composer, Elias has recorded over 20 albums and received five Grammy nominations (including one for a series of duets with Herbie Hancock). She was the first woman instrumentalist to be featured on the cover of Downbeat and is an artist with a truly global reach. Her soon to be released CD on Concord Jazz, Made in Brazil, is a lyrical showcase of bossa nova and samba rhythms that combines six Elias originals with classic tunes by three generations of Brazilian composers. She was last here in 2012 and we’re delighted to have her back.
