Over the past decade, pianist and composer Hiromi has redefined the parameters of creative musical virtuosity. Her electrifying performances achieve startling levels of wildness, complexity, and sophistication. Following her global-hit debut Another Mind, Hiromi won numerous awards, including the 2003 “Jazz Album of the Year” from the Recording Industry of Japan and “Best Jazz Act” at the Boston Music Awards in 2006. Her energetic performances have been electrifying audiences from Japan to North America. Hiromi, featured in Stanley Clark’s band, practically blew the roof off the Royal Theatre at the 2010 JazzFest. Hiromi will be returning to Victoria as part of the powerhouse group The Trio Project. The trio’s most recent album Move was called “another incredibly inspired stop in [Hiromi’s] decade-long pursuit of innovation and excellence,” by All About Jazz. The Trio Project also features first-call veterans Anthony Jackson bass guitar and Simon Phillips drums. This trio is guaranteed to thrill audiences.
